Medical billers and coders play a vital role in the connection between health care providers, patients and insurance companies. The Billing and Coding Technician Pathway certificate prepares students to compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. The student will learn how to process, maintain, compile, and report patient information for health requirements and standards in a manner consistent with the healthcare industry's numerical coding system, while maintaining patient confidentiality and information security.

Patient Service Representative

The Patient Service Representative certificate program provides students with entry level skills for an administrative medical office support position. The Patient Service Representative's duties may include: scheduling and receiving patients; maintaining medical records; handling telephone calls; preparing correspondence and reports; handling insurance matters, office accounts, and fees and collections, while working in a busy medical office with healthcare professionals.
