Treasure Valley Community College is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, supportive, and productive environment in which to study, live, work, research, and visit. TVCC strives to maintain an atmosphere that supports educational and career advancement based on reasonable, meaningful, and objective measures, such as academic and job performance. TVCC strives to recruit and retain top talent and persons of diverse backgrounds and experiences for its workforce and within its student body.
TVCC recognizes sexual misconduct as a form of sex discrimination. Sexual misconduct serves as an umbrella term for behaviors, including, but not limited to: sexual and gender-based harassment, sexual exploitation, sexual assault, relationship violence, and sex and gender-based stalking.
Sexual Misconduct has no place on TVCC campuses, facilities, or within the TVCC Community and it will not be tolerated. People who commit Sexual Misconduct will be held accountable.
In May 2020, the U.S. Department of Education released new regulations pertaining to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. TVCC is approaching the regulation changes as an opportunity to review all of TVCC's policies, procedures, and processes related to sexual misconduct. If you have a question or concern that involved sexual misconduct or Title IX compliance, please contact the Title IX Coordinator.
What is Title IX?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that makes unlawful discrimination based on sex in educational institutions. It states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
TVCC has established and determined its own standards for acceptable conduct of students, employees, volunteers, visitors, vendors, and collaborators. These standards meet or exceed the legal requirements of Title IX.
