Malheur Merit Scholarship
To honor the academic achievements of recent High School Graduates in Malheur County, Treasure Valley Community College is proud to award the TVCC Malheur Merit Scholarship of $2,000 to our local students who have graduated within the 2022-2023 academic year and received an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during their high school career. Only students receiving a regular, unmodified, high school (or home school) diploma are eligible.
New applications or any edits to submitted applications must be done prior to July 31, 2023 at 5:00PM Mountain. No exceptions will be made for this deadline.
Before continuing, please make sure that you have your MyTVCC login information, your account has been set-up at tvcc.cc/accountsetup, and you have the materials below ready for submission (detailed below):
High School (HS) Students
- Unofficial HS Transcript - Upload a copy of your unofficial transcript that includes: cumulative unweighted
HS GPA of 3.50 or higher, expected graduation date or class of 2023, and first semester/quarter/term
grades of final year of HS. Please name your transcript file in the following format:
StudentID#.FirstName.LastName.UnofficialTranscript.pdf
- Juniors who are graduating early must also have an Anticipated/Expected Graduation date of 2023 on their transcript or must provide a letter from the HS verifying that they plan to graduate this year.
- Placement Assessment Needs to be completed prior to awarding.
Home School Students
- Malheur ESD Home School Student Confirmation Letter - Home School Applicants must be a registered home school student with the Malheur Education Service District. Please name your letter in the following format: StudentID#.FirstName.LastName.Letterpdf

- ACT, SAT or GED Score - Upload a copy of your ACT, SAT or GED test scores

Students will need their TVCC login credentials to submit their Malheur Merit Scholarship Application.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you applied through the regular admissions application, then you should have received an email from admissions@tvcc.cc welcoming you for Fall 2023.
If you never received this email or are unsure if you are admitted as a regular student, please email admissions@tvcc.cc for verification, including your TVCC Student ID number, and note that you are applying for Malheur Merit in the email subject. You may also call Admissions at (541) 881-5819.
The regular TVCC Admissions application is NOT the same as the TVCC Dual Credit Application. If you are a Dual Credit student and already have your student account, you still need to apply for regular admission status for Fall 2023.

TVCC Malheur Merit Scholarship Recipients must meet the following qualifications to receive the award:
High School Students
- Attended and graduated from a high school within Malheur County or Huntington, OR during the 2022-2023 academic year.
- Graduated during the 2022-2023 academic year.
- Have a 3.5 High School Cumulative GPA (unweighted) and submit a final high school transcript after graduation directly from their school.
- Be Placed into Writing 115 or higher.*
- Enroll in 15 or more Credits at TVCC starting Fall Term 2023-2024 by July 31, 2023, or have signed up for an Advising and Registration session at www.tvcc.cc/advising.
- Register for one of the following college success courses as a part of their Fall
Term 2023-2024 course schedule: HDEV 112, HDEV 120, AG 207 or FWR 101.

Home School Students
- Reside in Malheur County or Huntington, OR during the 2022-2023.
- Be registered with the Malheur Education School District (MESD) as a homeschool student. Documentation will be required.
- Be placed into Writing 115 or higher.*

- Register for one of the following college success courses as a part of their Fall

*SAT/ACT/GED scores cannot be used in lieu of placement assessment results.
- Enroll Full-Time (15+ credits) each term
- Qualifying terms include fall, winter and spring
- Successfully complete at least 45 credits at the conclusion of the first year
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better in TVCC courses
- GPAs for continuing students will be calculated annually following spring term to determine potential eligibility for the second year of the program. The minimum 3.25 GPA will be strictly adhered to and there will be no appeal process for students who originally qualify, but whose GPA later drops below the 3.25 threshold.
- College credits and grades (including dual-credit courses taken through TVCC) earned while in high school are not factored into this minimum GPA requirement. Only credits and grades earned as a Full-Time TVCC student after high school graduation are considered.
- Maintain continued enrollment in a consecutive academic year.
- For example, student must be enrolled for fall, winter and spring terms (summer term is optional) and return the following fall; therefore a full academic year.
TVCC Malheur Merit Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. You must also meet the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress as outline within Financial Aid. If you fail to maintain the minimum credit requirement per term or fail to meet the standards of satisfactory academic progress, the scholarship may be revoked. There is not an appeal process if the GPA thresholds are not met. (For example; a 3.49 GPA will not be accepted for the 3.5 GPA requirement).
