Although the petition deadline is the second week of the term prior to graduation,  spring term graduates should apply during fall term to ensure early review and schedule planning.

After you submit you Petition for Graduation, an advisor will be in touch with you via your @student.tvcc.cc email address with more information. Contact advising@tvcc.cc if your program of study needs to be updated or you have any questions about petitioning to graduate.

Commencement & Graduation

What's the difference?

Graduation is when a student is awarded a degree or certificate once they have satisfied all certificate or degree requirements as verified by Student Services. After the verification process, the certificate or diploma is printed, mailed and posted to the student's TVCC transcript. The mailing and posting process for certificates and diplomas usually takes 6 to 8 weeks after term grades are recorded.

Commencement is a ceremony held each June that allows students, family and friends to celebrate the student's academic accomplishments. Participation in the ceremony does not mean the student has graduated and students do not receive a certificate or diploma at Commencement.
